General

As a family midwife, I need free-text fields for documentation, and I bill other funding bodies. Can Hey Midwife do that?

The documentation used by family midwives may differ from that typically found in clinical settings. For this reason, Hey Midwife provides a flexible documentation format consisting of editable blocks with headings and free-text fields. Billing to other funding bodies (such as regional associations or local authorities) is carried out via the IGeL catalogue of services.

Data Protection

Can I enter private appointments in my calendar in such a way that their confidentiality is guaranteed?

Yes, you can see your private appointments in full detail. For your colleagues who also have access to your calendar to add appointments, these appointments will simply be shown as ‘busy’.

Each appointment has three visibility levels: Patient, Practice, Private. A private appointment in your own calendar shows you all the details (creator, attendees and title). A colleague who can view your calendar will only see a blocked time slot labelled ‘Unavailable’ with no title or details, but can still add appointments around it.

There are two ways to configure this:

  • Per appointment: Select ‘Visibility: Private’ in the appointment form.
  • For an entire calendar: In the calendar settings, set the ‘Default visibility’ to ‘Private’; every new appointment will then be private unless you change this in the individual appointment.

I use messaging apps such as WhatsApp to communicate with the people I support. Do you know of any alternatives that comply with the GDPR?

Yes, you can invite the people you look after to join myGesa (my health assistant). You’ll then be able to chat, send pictures and voice messages, arrange appointments and much more, all in compliance with the GDPR. Your patients can also scan their new health insurance card and send the new details to you, and you can provide them with documents. myGesa is free of charge for your patients.
